About Gold & Silver Timing Guide
Quick answer: This site is run by an editorial team that explains gold and silver decisions without telling you what to buy. Its prices come from public feeds and can lag. It earns money through a paid affiliate link to Augusta Precious Metals. It is not financial advice.
Who writes this site
The guides here are written and reviewed by the Gold & Silver Timing Guide Editorial Team. We do not name individual writers, and we make no claims about the team's credentials, licences or past careers. You should not read the byline as a statement that a licensed adviser has looked at your situation, because none has.
What we can say is how we work. Each page is built from sourced facts, and where a fact is printed we give its source and the date we read it. When we could not find a fact, we leave it out instead of guessing. When two pages we read disagreed, we print neither figure and say that they disagreed.
Our job is to help you ask better questions. We do not tell you to buy or sell, and we do not predict where prices will go. If a page ever seems to do either, treat that as a mistake on our part and discount it.
Where the prices come from
The live prices, charts and ratio on this site come from two kinds of data. The charts draw on a futures series from the Yahoo Finance chart API, and the headline price comes from a spot feed. Each page prints a time stamp, and the stamp shows when the numbers were last taken. Read it before you rely on any figure.
Treat these numbers as reference points. They can lag the market, and they are not trading quotes. A dealer's price on the day you buy will differ from the number you see here, because dealers add a premium over spot and set their own prices. The same goes for any coin or bar. If you plan to buy, check the price you are actually being offered, not ours.
The figures we show for moves over a week, a month and a year are computed from the same feed, as are the past-year high and low. The gold-silver ratio is simply the gold price divided by the silver price. We do not adjust, smooth or round any of it to flatter a trend.
How the site is paid
Our income comes from one paid affiliate link, and the company behind it is Augusta Precious Metals. If you click the green button and later become a customer of Augusta, we may be paid a commission. It costs you nothing extra to use the link, and Augusta does not edit our pages.
That arrangement creates a conflict of interest, and you are entitled to weigh our words with it in mind. Here is how we try to keep it in check. We say only what Augusta's own pages state, with the date we read them. We print its $50,000 standard minimum as stated by Augusta, so that readers who cannot meet it are not led on. We leave out any wording meant to rush you, and we never claim the price is about to move.
The button itself does one thing: it asks Augusta to send you its free information kit. Nothing on the page we read promised a phone call afterward. Still, the small print beside the form speaks of phone, text and autodialed technology, so plan on being reached at whatever number you enter.
Not financial advice
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. The pages describe what the prices have done, what other people have published, and what questions are worth asking. They cannot take your circumstances into account, and they cannot tell you what is right for you. For that, talk to a qualified professional who knows your finances.
Past moves are not a guide to future ones. Prices of both metals can fall as well as rise, and silver in particular can move a long way in a short time. Do not buy anything you cannot afford to see lose value.
Information, not financial advice. We do not tell you to buy or sell anything and we do not predict prices. The figures are reference numbers as of the time shown. For your own situation, ask a qualified professional.
Where to go next
If you are new here, start with the home page, should I buy gold or silver, which sets out the decision framework and the two live prices. The Augusta Precious Metals gold IRA page gives the detail on the partner, and the gold-silver ratio page explains the one comparison that readers ask about most.
